Chinese New Year

I don't know much about this holiday, including when it is in Feb, so I looked up some details:

  • Chinese New Year for 2007 is the year of the boar or pig. Those born in 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983 or 1995 were born under this sign and are highly regarded for chivalry and pureness of heart.
  • Chinese New Year is celebrated for 15 days ending with the Lantern Festival.
  • One of the world's largest Chinese New Year's parades is held in the U. S. in San Francisco, California. Since the 1860's the Chinese New Year parade has been celebrated as a means to educate the community. In the 1950's the parade was taken over by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. In 2007, Southwest Airlines is sponsoring the Chinese New Year parade on Saturday, March 3.
